2012 saw the first running of the Great Hucklow Junior Fell Race, with Great Hucklow the last event in the new Gritty junior fell race series.

This year races start from 10.20 am, with a 0.5km course for age 6 and over, and a course of 1.8km for 8 and over.

Junior events will start from the same place as the main race. Competitors will start off crossing fields; 8+ will continue up a track into Hucklow Woods before looping back to the event centre on varied path surfaces, including some challenging underfoot conditions which in 2012 included a lot of mud.

Entry requires parental consent on the entry form, and costs £2.

Approximate distances and ascents are:

6 years and over 0.5km with 10m ascent

8 years and over 1.8km with 74m ascent
